Monique Wittig was the co-founder of the M.L.F. (Women's Liberation
Movement) in France, and Author of Les Guérillères, The Lesbian Body,
etc.
The evening will feature readings by Dominique Bourque (University
of Ottawa), Namascar Shaktini (Florida Atlantic University), and Jeannelle
Laillou Savona (University of Toronto): co-authors. With testimonies
by Julia Creet (York University), Catherine Phillips (University of
Toronto), Clive Thomson (University of Western Ontario), and several
others.
Besides twelve critical essays, On Monique Wittig contains Wittig's
own remarks on Les Guérillères and The Lesbian Body, as well as the
first translation of the French Manifesto of the Women's Liberation
Movement (1970).
This evening is supported by the French Department (University of
Toronto), the Sexual Diversity Studies Program at University College
(University of Toronto), and the Department of Languages and Linguistics
(Florida Atlantic University).
